THANKS YOU GUYS. Harpy was basically my TOP CHOICE out of the available monsters (some others that I did concepts for and wouldn’t have minded getting were manticore, arachne, troll, werewolf, etc) so I was super psyched when that was what I got.
To answer Lanternmoth’s question, it’s a game on Dreamwidth called “Ryslig”, with the basic premise that all the characters wash up in a foreign country and wind up slowly transforming into monsters that prey on the human population there. Equal room for both body/psychological horror AND stupid/cute monster shenanigans.
I am tempted to join silenthillforum.com for the sole purpose of correcting someone
in case any of you were deceived into thinking I was a good and kind person
I am not
ah jeez, I’m so tempted, but it would be wrong, b/c I don’t have any other interest in the forum that can’t be alleviated by lurking
but he’s so wrong, he’s talking about how Silent Hill 4 doesn’t mention Alessa or the cult when the ENTIRE PLOT HINGES ON WALTER SULLIVAN BEING ADOPTED AND THEN BRAINWASHED BY THE CULT
if he’s trolling, bravo, he got me, he got me good
…. oh my god ARE YOU KIDDING ME like
I haven’t even played/watched a playthrough of SH4 in AGES but Alessa is like. LITERALLY MENTIONED at one point, as is Dahlia, and there’s even references to what can be assumed to be the events of SH1 (a radio report can be heard comparing the reported happenings at the apartment complex to the ‘incident years ago’ in Silent Hill, which I always thought was a really cool detail since it tells us some stuff about what ‘normal’ people can sense/are aware of while really serious shit is going down in the Otherworld). Just because the name GILLESPIE isn’t plastered all over the game doesn’t mean they aren’t mentioned or that the story isn’t connected to them.
Like SH4 ISN’T ALESSA’S STORY why would she need to come up any more than the mentions of her that are already there.
